At Grenova, we’ve always prided ourselves on our commitment to sustainability, not just in the products we create, but in every aspect of our business. That’s why this year, we’ve decided to make a significant shift in how we engage with our community at tradeshows.
In the past, we’ve handed out giveaways at industry events. However, we’ve recognized that these giveaways often come with consequences—plastic packaging, carbon emissions from shipping, and a general culture of wastefulness. At the end of 2024, we decided it was time for a change.
A New Approach: Scanning for Good
Instead of the usual promotional items, Grenova is launching a new initiative that allows us to give back in a more meaningful way. For every badge we scan at a tradeshow in 2025, we’ll donate $1 to a charity that’s making a difference in the world.
We’re proud to announce that the charity we’ve chosen for this year is The Ocean Cleanup. This non-profit organization is on a mission to develop technologies to rid the oceans and rivers of plastic waste. Their efforts to reduce plastic pollution align perfectly with our values at Grenova. We constantly strive to reduce plastic waste and promote a smarter, cleaner, greener future.
Why The Ocean Cleanup?
The Ocean Cleanup Foundation aims to clean up 90% of floating ocean plastic pollution by 2040. Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter our oceans, threatening marine life and ecosystems. By focusing not just on cleaning up existing waste but also preventing more plastic from reaching our waters in the first place, The Ocean Cleanup aims to create a lasting solution to the global plastic crisis.
Their innovative approach includes technology to extract plastic from rivers. Preventing it from ever reaching the ocean in the first place and deploying large-scale systems to collect plastic from the open ocean. This visionary effort has the potential to significantly reduce plastic pollution and improve the health of our planet for generations to come.
